29.01.2015 Number26 begins roll-out of its mobile banking service in Germany and Austria.
Number26 offers a mobile bank account for smartphone users that aims to speed up the banking process. “The bank branch of the future is the smartphone. That’s why with Number26 we have created a bank account the way it should be – transparent, mobile and secure,” said Valentin Stalf, founder and CEO of Number26 in a statement.
Users can sign up for the service in eight minutes, the company says, as their identity is verified by video call. Transactions are displayed on a smartphone app, which also offers various additional features such as notifications for real time card transactions, stats to manage finances, a breakdown of expenditure, the ability to block or unblock your card at a click and the ability to transfer money via text message or email.
28.01.2015 Apple Pay accounts for $2 out of every $3 spent with contactless payments.
Apple CEO apple PayTim Cook shared some interesting numbers on Apple Pay during the company’s fiscal Q1 2015 earnings call. Cook said that around $2 out of every $3 spent using contactless payments across Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are being made with Apple Pay since the service launched last October.
Apple also noted the announcement made earlier by USA Technologies that will enable Apple Pay at around 200,000 self-serve terminals installed at everything from vending machines to laundromats.
