American Express certifies Oberthur’s PEARL Secure Element

News_in_BriefOberthur Technologies, a world leader in digital security solutions for the mobility space, today announced the certification of its embedded Secure Element (eSE) PEARL by American Express, one of the leading global payment networks.

With PEARL, OT has developed and industrialized the most advanced and secure large-memory embedded secure element. This additional trusted element in the NFC ecosystem will facilitate the deployment of numerous services while enhancing their security level.

By offering PEARL, embedded in smartphones, Oberthur Technologies provides end-users with a new secure and convenient contactless payment means, when simply waving their phone in front of a contactless point- of-sale. In addition to payments, PEARL allows people to use their phone to authenticate themselves, travel in cities, access buildings or as a dematerialised loyalty card.

“We are delighted to obtain this American Express certification for our PEARL embedded Secure Element. Working with a major scheme like American Express is a real asset to encourage NFC deployment and to strengthen even more OT’s leadership on the eSE market,” said Vincent Guitard, OEM Strategic marketing Director of the Telecom Business Unit at Oberthur Technologies.
