The future of fundraising is Bliss

There’s been a lot of talk about the use of NFC for charity fundraising and how this technology could make serious in-roads for the future of fundraising. So it’s no surprise that  a company such as Wooshping has announced that their first charity partner, Bliss, has today started to distribute “Instant Fundraising Wristbands” to their key fundraisers. The “Instant Fundraising Wristbands” are a brand new development and give fundraisers an additional tool to raise funds instantly and spontaneously through mobile phone interaction with their supporters.

Bliss is a special care baby charity, dedicated to ensuring that all babies born too soon, too small or too sick in the UK have the best possible chance of survival and of reaching their full potential. It does this by providing practical and emotional support for families during an extremely difficult time, so they can give the best care to their babies and encouraging health care professionals to deliver family centred care, funding specialist Bliss nurses in hospitals and supporting research to improve care of all premature and sick babies. Its goal is to raise awareness of the issues affecting special care babies and fight for essential change within government and the NHS.

Alaric Shorter, Events Manager at Bliss said, “The “instant fundraising wristbands” are a fantastic idea and a real fundraising innovation which literally taps into the rise in the mobile market. They make it that much easier for fundraisers to secure sponsorship and donations from their friends, family and colleagues right then and there at the moment of asking. Bliss is very excited about trialling the wristbands with our supporters and we hope it will help them go the extra mile with their fundraising, meaning more money raised to help babies born too soon, too small and too sick.”

The fully branded, durable and waterproof silicone wristbands incorporate an NFC (Near Field Communication) chip and QR codes in their branding, to direct potential donors to a fundraising page, allowing instant donations to be given and helping fundraisers achieve their fundraising targets. Speaking of the launch Rupert Englander, Managing Director of Wooshping said, “We are delighted to be working with Bliss to deliver this new and innovative fundraising solution. Gone are the days when you needed to fill out pledge forms and then chase money from your sponsors, or send an email or post on social networks hoping to get people to notice your plea for donations and support. Now, fundraisers can get their friends, family and colleagues to donate instantly when they meet them face to face, seizing the moment to give, and receive their support there and then. And all through the tap or scan of their mobile phone. It is extremely satisfying and rewarding and will become a vital visual tool for fundraisers to achieve their targets.”
