PNC Bank officially announces support for Microsoft Wallet

microsoft_walletPNC Bank has announced its support for Microsoft Wallet and joins a list of six other banks that currently support Windows 10 Mobile’s tap-to-pay solution including Bank of America, First Tech Federal Credit Union, Virginia Credit Union, People’s United Bank, US Bank, and BECU.

Along with US Bank, Chase and Fifth Third Bank have been listed as “coming soon” since Microsoft’s mobile payment service launched almost two months ago. Chase is certainly one of the largest banks on the list, and it’s highly anticipated by Windows 10 Mobile users.

It would seem that not much has been done in those two months, adding only two banks (one of which was promised) and support for zero devices. The list of Windows phones that can use the service stands at the Lumia 650, 950, and 950 XL.

Of course, the lack of new support could have something to do with the fact that the service is still for Insiders only. Microsoft decided not to update Windows phones to the Anniversary Update on August 2 as it had promised, so perhaps we can expect better Wallet support when it finally does.

“SmartAccess cards will be available soon,” the bank says. PNC commercial and Mastercard credit cards are not eligible at this time. The NFC mobile payment service was unveiled in June 2016 with announced support from nine other US banks and financial institutions.
