Mobile payment specialist Nexperts to be acquired by Netcetera

mobile-paymentsSwiss software company Netcetera has acquired mobile payment specialist Nexperts, with headquarters in Hagenberg, Austria, effective immediately. Together, say the companies, they want to ‘revolutionise the digital payment market with comprehensive solutions and become the leading European provider of digital payment solutions’.

The acquisition will enable both companies to supply a combined offering to banks and card issuers for digital payment solutions supporting all credit and debit card standards. With the merger, both companies will combine their resources and strengthen their local presence in German-speaking countries. Kurt Schmid, CEO and founder of Nexperts, will lead the new Digital Payment business.

Currently, over 12 million card holders use Netcetera solutions for secure shopping on the web. With the acquisition of Nexperts, Netcetera is offering an integrated comprehensive system for digital payments, including payment with smartphones at point of sale.

According to Andrej Vckovski, CEO of Netcetera, the companies will together be able to revolutionise the NFC-based mobile payment market. By merging the expertise of both companies, the new company will be able to provide an integrated, independent solution for digital payments with all card standards that includes not only mobile payment, but also in-app payment and online payment.

The Nexperts wallet technology supports MasterCard PayPass and Visa payWave profiles to enable contactless payment based on NFC. For this purpose Secure Elements and Cloud Based Payment (CBP) techniques using Host Card Emulation (HCE) are utilised. Solutions from Nexperts are used by banks, retailers and mobile operators. Wallegro is a consumer wallet offered to end-users.
